i made clay stars with some of these images on them...
“Rather than creating two-dimensional traditional silver gelatin prints, I have chosen to work with my images in this way out of my desire to create image-objects. These act as a physical symbol, strengthening my connection to myself, my community, and identity even when separated from the land itself. The stars also relate back to outsider art and folk art practices, acting as protective and spiritual talismans. When I was first building them, I would arrange the drying clay forms in a circle in the studio. I would sit in the middle of them, meditating and focusing my energy into the objects, seeking understanding and divine guidance.”
